Brunch with Anna Wintour

Picture this. It’s day two of the Toronto International Film Festival and Yorkville is a buzz. An exclusive group of Toronto’s most stylish have gathered at the Four Seasons Hotel, to launch their inaugural Icon Award in collaboration with TIFF’s Share Her Journey campaign.

Recognizing lifetime achievement in supporting the advancement of women in film, television and the arts, guests patiently awaited the arrival of the first recipient — the incomparable and notoriously elusive editor-in-chief of VOUGE and global fashion icon, Dame Anna Wintour.

With over three decades at the helm of VOUGE,  Anna Wintour was one of the first to feature a multitude of iconic women, not only celebrities and models, but politicians, activists, writers, artists, and more. The Dame gave an empowered and passionate speech covering a range topics, including politics, her position on gun control, her support for the preservation of our environment, and even noted who she hoped would win the upcoming U.S. Open (to be clear — she would be in “Serena’s box”). Concluding her remarks, she left guests with a final, thought provoking statement, “You have to stand up for what you believe in and take a point of view.”
